Fat Franks

Over the years countless celebrities, politicians, musicians and athletes have flocked to Philadelphia for a taste of Philadelphia’s most iconic food is a sandwich: sautéed ribeye and melted cheese on a soft roll – known worldwide as the Philly Cheesesteak.

In 2017, Antonio Tarzia took the long trip from his hometown of Wetherill Park in Western Sydney to Philadelphia on a pilgrimage to learn the original recipe after falling in love with the sandwich.

He spent 14 months negotiating a partnership to bring the original cheese and bread to Australia. The first Fat Franks opened following this in Wetherill Park originally as a pop-up store to great success and it kept growing. In 2020, they moved to a new Wetherill Park location to keep up with the demand which then brings us to 2021 and their new Newtown location.
